DESCRIPTION OF BRAZIL NATURE TOUR

Any complete trip to Brazil should begin in Rio de Janeiro. A private city tour takes you to Corcovado Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountain and the Sambodromo, home of Carnival. Leisure time in Rio can be spent at the legendary beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema or on a day trip to Ilha Grande or Paraty. Optional tours and excursions in and around Rio can include a favela tour, shopping tour, hang gliding, a Jeep tour of Tijuca Forest, a fabulous ‘Rio by Night’ samba and dinner tour.

The natural history experience then starts in Foz de Iguaçú, home to one of the most beautiful ecological reserves in Earth and where you find one of the most spectacular views of the world, the Iguaçú Falls. You will explore the falls from both the Brazilian and Argentinean sides. From Iguacu you will fly to Cuiaba and transfer to your Pantanal lodge. The Pantanal is the biggest marsh plain in the world and a natural habitat of rich ecological diversity, including 1000 bird species, 400 fish species, 300 species of mammal, 480 reptile species. Daily guided excursions are accompanied by expert naturalists as you explore the ecosystems on foot, by boat, on horseback and four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Next you will fly to Manaus, gateway city to the Amazon rainforest. After a night in Manaus you will transfer by boat up the Rio Negro River to your lodge from where you will spend your days (and some nights) on guided river and jungle excursions. Geographical diversity at its best: waterfalls, plains, jungles, flora and fauna.
